Mark your calendar for June 9 th . It is the PRIMARIES and not the general
election in November that will determine the direction of the great state of South
Carolina for generations to come!

Well, now we face the prospect of a new year, and what a year 2026 promises to be!

Aside from ALL of the activity at the federal level (and that’s A LOT!), we in South
Carolina have an election cycle that holds promise greater than any in living memory.
Think that’s overstated? Read on.

 In the US Senate, our senior Senator, who is deeply unpopular with the
grassroots, has credible challengers.
 A wide-open governor’s race that features at least one candidate firmly
committed to rooting out the well-known corruption* in Columbia,
 A race for Attorney General that, again, features a candidate who not only has
talked about rooting out corruption, has actually prosecuted and gained
convictions of sitting state legislators (including the Speaker of the House!) for
corruption!
 A race for Comptroller General that features a candidate committed to providing
public transparency to ALL state spending (serving it all to the internet) that holds
the promise of revolutionizing how our state spends our tax dollars.

Each of the above races is unprecedented, let alone having them all in one election
cycle! It’s a sign of the times. In the ‘age of Trump,’ folks who just want to live their
lives have become increasingly aware of the extent to which public funds can be
abused by political insiders (can you say USAID? How about Minnesota?). Or, for an
example closer to home, how about this?

What we ALL need to keep in mind is that the vested interests really do not want to see
the status quo upset and, so, will employ any means necessary to defeat such anti-
corruption candidates. And since South Carolina continues to have open primaries,
then we can certainly expect that a percentage of Democrat voters will cross over to
‘help’ us Republicans elect the most liberal/big government-loving candidates possible.

So, dear grassroots Republicans (who want LESS government and therefore MORE
freedom), what ever are we to do? Here’s what:

ON JUNE 9 TH , GET OUT THE VOTE!!

For all of the most important races in our state, they will NOT be decided next
November in the general election. Whoever is the Republican nominee in all state-wide
races will win the election!

Therefore, the REAL ELECTION is on June 9 th in the Republican primaries. Do NOT let
this opportunity to help shape the future of our great state pass you by!

* A note on the term ‘corruption.’ I often avoid the use of this term as it can be
unnecessarily inflammatory. What some call corruption, I simply view as people in the
public realm following their own self-interest. It takes an extraordinary personal
constitution for an elected to resist the ‘enticements’ that come with a position to
influence public spending. Most folks do not have such fortitude. Call it corruption, or
self-interest – it amounts to the same thing. I employ the term here insomuch as these
referenced candidates themselves are using the term.
